• Tri-fold Display Board (the kind used for science fair projects, found in office supply stores)
• Craft Knife
• Colored Card Stock
• Paint Sticks (found in the paint section or hardware stores)
• Dowels
• Glue Dots (available in glue section or scrapbooking section of craft stores)
• Electrical Tape
Directions
1. Cut clothing out of colored cardstock.
2. Attach hands to ends of paint sticks with glue dots. Attach sleeves slightly further up the paint stick (leave enough room at the end to stick through display board and manipulate).
3. Attach shoes to bottom of dowel with glue dots. Attach pant legs slightly further up.
4. Attach the shirt to the very top of the display board. Do not attach the bottom of the shirt.
5. Using the exacto knife cut out a semi circle along the neckline of the shirt (this is where the puppeteer’s head will go).
6. Cut notches into shirt (follow template). Cut all the way through the display board.
7. Lift the bottom of the shirt and poke two holes through the display board.
8. Insert arms into sleeve notches and legs into holes.
9. Wrap electrical tape around dowels and paint sticks to keep them from sliding out of the holes.
10. The puppeteer places their own head in the cut semi circle and manipulates the paint sticks and dowels to make the arms and legs move on their Song and Dance Man (or Woman).
